Autistic stimming is the act of displaying self-stimulating behaviours that autistic people do, as a natural and often essential part of their day-to-day living. Seen as repetitive actions, sounds and movements that neurotypical people might be seen as weird or awkward to them, but to autistic people, stimming supports them with regulating their emotions, processing sensory inputs, and maintain physical and mental clarity and balance in an overwhelming and chaotic world.
